Hubert George Burkemper A Mass of Christian Burial for Hubert George Burkemper of Old Monroe, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2005 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Phil Harke, Jim Schulze, Dan Eggering, . Mr. Burkemper, 95, died Tuesday evening, March 8, 2005 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born July 28, 1909 in Old Monroe, he was the son of the late Andrew and Teresa Hoelting Burkemper. He was united in marriage on October 3, 1934 in Old Monroe to Irene Theresa Westhoff. A lifelong resident of the Old Monroe area, Mr. Burkemper was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe and the Holy Name Society. Besides his parents, Andrew and Teresa Burkemper, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Leonard Burkemper, Dions Burkemper, Andrew Burkemper, Jr., Fred Burkemper and Oscar "Bud" Burkemper; four sisters: Veranda Stork, Leona Burkemper, JoAnn Burkemper and Lorraine Gnade; and his beloved wife of 60 years, Irene Burkemper, who died December 3, 1994. Survivors include one son, Wayne Burkemper and his wife, Sue, of Mission Viejo, CA; one daughter, Shirley Leiling of Old Monroe; seven grandchildren: Gayle Stelzer, Karla Runge and her husband, Eddie, Brian Ostmann and his wife, Tammy, Kevin Burkemper, Eric Burkemper and his wife, Maria, Curt Burkemper and Patrick Burkemper; and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Clem Burkemper Ellisville, MO; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. A Prayer Service was held at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home during the visitation.
