Obituary of Gladys Meyer

Gladys Artilla Meyer Funeral services for Gladys Artilla Meyer of Elsberry, MO were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Allen Calkins, pastor of Star Hope Baptist Church, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Mrs. Meyer, 95, died early Wednesday morning, March 2, 2005 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born August 13, 1909 in Troy, MO, she was the daughter of William Peter and Emma Graue Rinaman. She graduated from Troy-Buchanan High School in Troy, MO. Following high school, she attended Hannibal-LaGrange College for one year. She was united in marriage to Ed Palmer. He preceded her in death in 1946. She was married again on February 14, 1948 in Elsberry to Christian Childs Meyer. She was employed for a number of years as a seamstress for Warrenton Manufacturing. She was a member of Star Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Besides her parents, William and Emma Rinaman, and her first husband, Ed Palmer, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Wilson Rinaman and Louis Rinaman; four sisters: Lillie Mae Karenbrock, Ruby Pollien, Bertha Schroer, and Lucille Gray; and her second husband, Christian Meyer, who died July 1, 1966. Survivors include two sisters: Erma Rinaman of St. Louis, MO and Helen Forbis of Warrenton, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
