Obituary of Earl Wheadon

Earl Wheadon, Jr. Funeral services for Earl Wheadon, Jr. of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Michael Lockhart, pastor of the Elsberry United Methodist Church, officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Green, Randall Tolbert, Phillip Lagemann, Dale Hurley, Steven Sharpe, Warren Henry, Joe Hunter and Jim Ross. Mr. Wheadon, 69, died Monday evening, February 14, 2005 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born October 13, 1935 in Sledd, MO, he was the son of the late Earl Searl and Dorothy Helen Flueck Wheadon, Sr. He was united in marriage on July 28, 1956 in Elsberry to Peggy Jean Collins. He was employed for many years as an ironworker for Quality Steel Erectors, retiring April 14, 1995. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local #396 in St. Louis. He was also a former member of the Elsberry Saddle Club. Mr. Wheadon was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Dorothy Wheadon, Sr. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Peggy Wheadon of Elsberry; one daughter, Pam Kruse of O'Fallon, MO; and one grandson, Justin Scherrer of O'Fallon. He also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
