Obituary of Mary McClay

Mary Margaret McClay Funeral services for Mary Margaret McClay of Troy, MO, formerly of St. Peters, MO, were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Father Tom Wissler, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, officiated with burial in Troy City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Kenny Miller, Tim Mitchell, Mark Peasel, Marvin Peasel, Joshua Miller and Jacob Miller. Mrs. McClay, 81, died Sunday morning, January 16, 2005 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County, MO. Born March 18, 1923 in St. Louis County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret Beckovitz Brolaski. She was united in marriage on April 6, 1940 in St. Louis to Ray Sidney Duncan. She was employed for a number of years as a ladies clothing buyer for Garland, Sonnefields & Klienes in St. Louis, retiring in 1984. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Ray Duncan on January 17, 1990. She was marriage again on March 11, 1992 in St. Charles, MO, to Walter D. McClay. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post #8828 in Troy, and TOCOA in Troy. Mrs. McClay was a past member of the Evangeline Club in Troy, and the Lincoln County Council on Aging. Besides her parents, Louis and Margaret Brolaski, and her beloved husband, Ray Duncan, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Frank Brolaski, Louis Brolaski, Bill Brolaski, August Brolaski and Harry Brolaski; and an infant son, Robert Allen Duncan. Survivors include her loving husband of 12 years, Walter McClay of Troy; one daughter, Ruth Marre and her husband, Frank, of Troy; four grandchildren: Lisa Peasel and her husband, Mark, of Troy, Renee Mitchell and her husband, Tim, of Chesterfield, MO, Frank J. Marre, III and his wife, Mary Jane, of Elsberry, MO, and Mary Miller and her husband, Kenneth, of Silex, MO; and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters: Georgia Anderson of Wentzville, MO, and Catherine Reindhart of South St. Louis; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2005 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
