Obituary of J.L. Johnson

J.L. Johnson Funeral services for J.L. Johnson of Winfield, MO were held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of Winfield Baptist Church, officiated with cremation to follow at Memorial Park Crematory in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Johnson, 78, died early Friday morning, January 14, 2005 at his home in Winfield. Born January 1, 1927 in Cardwell, MO, he was the son of the late J.C. and Laury Smith Johnson. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage on May 28, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to Dorothy Nadine Whitlock. He was employed for 20 years as a shipping and receiving clerk for Champion ReBuilders. Besides his parents, J.C. and Laury Johnson, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eunice Miller; one daughter, Janice Puckett, who died in 1984; and his beloved wife, Nadine Johnson, who died February 13, 1995. Survivors include five children: Darron Johnson of Winfield, Pat Powell and her husband, John, of Foley, MO, Brenda (Carl) Austin of St Charles, MO, Paulette Templeton and her husband, Guy, of Winfield, and Rick (Colleen) Johnson of St. Louis, MO; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Paul Johnson of St. Charles; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
