Ralph Wesley Calvin Funeral services for Ralph Wesley Calvin of Troy, MO, formerly of Foley, MO were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2005 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull, pastor of the Foley Baptist Church, officiated with cremation to follow at Memorial Park Crematory in St. Louis, MO. Music was provided by Ruth Tiller and Susan Beckemeier. Mr. Calvin, 81, died early Thursday morning, January 13, 2005 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy. Born June 28, 1923 in Foley, MO, he was the son of the late James Wesley and Anna Strus Calvin. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from February 24, 1943 until October 18, 1945. He was united in marriage on November 8, 1945 in Foley, MO to Charlotte Mae Presley. He was employed for18 years as a machinist at the former Hecker Machine Co. (now Ideal Machine and Tool Co.) in Foley, MO, retiring in the spring of 1979. Charlotte preceded him in death on November 15, 1991. He married again on November 21, 1992 in Troy, to Beverly Sue Johnson. He was a member of the VFW Post #8828 in Troy, and a charter member of the Robert Fischer American Legion Post in Foley, MO. He was also a member of the Foley Baptist Church. Besides his parents, James and Anna Calvin, and his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Calvin, he was preceded in death by five infant sisters; three infant brothers; and one brother, Lavoid James Calvin, who died in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Survivors include his loving wife of 12 years, Beverly Sue Calvin of Troy; two daughters: Vivian Farris and her husband, Ray, of Foley, and Anna Sitton and her husband, Donnie, also of Foley; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
