Obituary of Shawnna Phillips

Shawnna Marie Phillips A Mass of Christian Burial for Shawnna Marie Phillips of Elsberry, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Bill Baier and Father Robert Zinzer officiated with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Capps, Devine Capps, David Smith, Desire Smith, Jeff Connyers and Gina Connyers. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Capps, Rory Allen, Jamie Allen, and Jeff Allen. Ms. Phillips, 23, died Saturday evening, November 20, 2004 at her home near Elsberry. Born October 3, 1981 in St. Charles, MO, she was the daughter of Randy Gene and Julie Ann Capps Phillips. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, Shawnna was a 2000 graduate of Elsberry High School. A 12-year member of her class, she was chosen to give the senior address at their graduation. Shawnna performed in school plays, was a member of the National Honor Society, participated in the Renaissance program and was chosen Christmas Dance Queen her senior year. She was a 4-year member of the Speech and Drama Club, performing at the District and State level. She was employed for a number of years at day care centers in Troy and Moscow Mills, MO. She was later employed as an assistant manager at Hardee's in Troy and as an associate at Wal-Mart in Troy. Shawnna was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Shawnna was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lorraine Capps in 1989, her father, Randy Phillips in 1990, her step-father, Alan Kerpash in 2001, her paternal grandfather, Ralph Phillips in 2002 and her maternal great-grandfather, Lowell "Pete" Capps in 2004. Survivors include her mother, Julie Kerpash of Elsberry; and her brother, Christopher Dameron of Elsberry. She also leaves her maternal grandparents, Thomas A. and Lois Capps of Elsberry; her paternal grandmother, Rovina Phillips of Troy, MO; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
