Obituary of Mark Colbert

Mark Dale Colbert Funeral services for Mark Dale Colbert of Troy, MO were held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2004 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy, MO. Rev. David Stewart, church pastor, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Christopher Colbert Kelly, Franklin Colbert, Lincoln Steiner, Jeffrey Steiner, Chad Meier, Mike Forschnieder, Steve Papin, Nick Elliot, and Joe Luck. Mr. Colbert, 47, died Thursday morning, November 11, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born March 2, 1957 in St. Charles, MO, he was the son of Billy Joe and Betty Jean Morris Colbert. He was a 1975 graduate of Troy-Buchanan High School. Following high school, he attended Florissant Valley Community College for two years. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage on October 21, 1989 in Troy to Debra Ann Cappel. He was employed as a millwright for ASI in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the Carpenters Local #1875 in Winfield, the Lincoln County Democratic Party, and the Troy Lodge #34, AF&AM. He was a leader for the Spring Creek 4-H Club and was active in the wrestling and football boosters for Troy schools. He was also a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Troy. Mr. Colbert was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Colbert. Survivors include his beloved wife of 15 years, Debra Colbert of Troy; three sons: Christopher Colbert Kelly and his wife, Julia Kelly, of Winfield, MO, Stephen and Franklin Colbert, both of Troy; and three grandchildren: Madison Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Jr., and Haley Kelly. He also leaves his mother, Betty Cox and her husband, Claude, of Troy; one brother, Dane Colbert and his wife, Deanna, of Troy; one sister, Debbie Wallace and her husband, Dan, of Foley, MO; his parents-in-law, Paul and Melba Cappel of Troy; one brother-in-law, Dennis Cappel and his wife, Cindy, of Silex, MO; six nieces and nephews: Rebecca Wallace, Kierston and Callie Colbert, Christina Roth and her husband, Mike, Jeffrey Steiner, and Lincoln Steiner; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 and from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
