Obituary of Lewis Parker

Lewis Foster Parker, Jr. Funeral services for Lewis Foster Parker, Jr. of Winfield, MO were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, IA. Rev. Paul Smith, church pastor, officiated with burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery near Ottumwa. Mr. Parker, 76, died Friday morning, July 9, 2004 at his home near Winfield, MO. Born February 23, 1928 in Ottumwa, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mabel Worthen Parker. He was a 1946 graduate of Ottumwa High School. He served his country in the United State Army from June 25, 1945 until September 7, 1949. He was united in marriage on December 31, 1952 in Ottumwa to Annette May Coates. He was employed for 39 years as a signal maintainer for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in March 1990. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalman and Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mabel Parker. Survivors include his beloved wife, Annette Parker of Winfield; two sisters: Lois Schelen of Ottumwa, and Virginia Newnham of Big Pine Key, FL; one sister-in-law, Jean Fite of Agency, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Visitation was also held after 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2004 at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa.
