Obituary of Margaret Holmes

Margaret J. Holmes Funeral services for Margaret "Peggy" Jane Holmes of Richardson, TX, formerly of Winfield, MO, were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield Baptist Church, officiated with burial in Corinth Cemetery near Foley, MO. Serving as pallbearers were James Boettcher, William Boettcher, Rick Masterson, Jim Masterson, Neil Burkemper, Bob Page and Dennis Page; honorary pallbearer was Kyle Boettcher. Mrs. Holmes, 78, died Saturday morning, May 22, 2004 at her home in Richardson, TX. Born November 21, 1925 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Mary Jane Page Dawkins. She was a 1942 graduate of Winfield High School. She was united in marriage on April 1, 1946 in St. Louis to William Lyndon Holmes. The Holmes family moved to Texas in the early 1960s and have made their home in Richardson for the past 30 years. Besides her parents, Ira and Mary Jane Dawkins, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lyndon Holmes in 1977; one daughter, Lynda Lee Massey in 1993; and one sister, Ada Virginia Dawkins in 1999. Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, William "Lyndon" Holmes of Richardson, TX; one son, Gary Lewis Holmes of Richardson; one daughter, Kay "Ellen" Wade and her husband, Edward, of Plano, TX; and one granddaughter, Lyndsay Ellen Massey of Texas A&M. She also leaves one brother, William Dennis Dawkins of Hunnewell, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
