Obituary of Wayne Jolly

Wayne Elmer Jolly Funeral services for Wayne Elmer Jolly of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Tom Fortner, pastor of Atlanta Baptist Church in Atlanta, MO, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Zenge, Keith Zenge, Jim Zenge, Tommy Ray, Billy Ray, and Harry LeBlanc; honorary pallbearer Floyd Lorenz. Mr. Jolly, 89, died Sunday morning, March 7, 2004 at Troy Manor in Troy, MO. Born October 17, 1914 in Sangamon County, IL, he was the son of the late Herschel Leo and Lucy Sarah Bryant Jolly. He was united in marriage on June 18, 1955 in Troy to Georgia Clema Ray. Mr. Jolly received his diamond-grading certificate from the Gemological Institute of America and worked as a diamond grader for many years. He purchased his first diamond at the age of 12. He was employed for 35 years as an engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1977. He also worked as a commercial fisherman in Beardstown, IL. Besides his parents, Herschel and Lucy Jolly, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Jolly; and his beloved wife, Georgia Jolly, who died November 11, 1998. Survivors include one uncle, one aunt, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
