Obituary of Mildred Peecher

Mildred Evelyn Peecher Funeral services for Mildred Evelyn Peecher of Elsberry, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2004 at the Elsberry First Baptist Church in Elsberry. Rev. Doug McGlaughlin of Troy, MO, and Rev. Gary Barry, interim pastor, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers Bill Whitmer, Steve Peecher, Steve Briscoe, George Peecher, Allen Stonebraker, Don Dowers, Brian Morgan, Jim Wood, and Robert Littrell Mrs. Peecher, 86, died Thursday evening, February 26, 2004 at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto, MO. Born September 2, 1917 in Oakford, IL, she was the daughter of Elias D. and Iona Vance Cohee. She graduated in 1936 from Havana High School in Havana, IL. She was united in marriage on October 1, 1937 in Jacksonville, IL to Herschel Clyde Peecher. She was a member of the Elsberry First Baptist Church in Elsberry. Besides her parents, Elias and Iona Cohee, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Cohee; and her beloved husband of almost 47 years, Herschel Peecher, who died July 15, 1984. Survivors include one son, Steve Peecher of O'Fallon, MO; one daughter, Janet Whitmer and her husband, Bill, of Herculaneum, MO; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. She also leaves two sisters: Gloria Curless and her husband, Bill, of Havana, IL, and Dorothy Huff of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 29, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
