Dorothy Elaine Hines Hilton Funeral services for Dorothy Elaine Hines Hilton of Troy, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Troy, MO. Rev. John Birkhead and Rev. Richard Rhea, church pastor, officiated with burial in Corinth Cemetery near Foley, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Carl Hines, Jimmy Martin, Richard Martin, Jonathan Martin, Jesse Hines, and Dale Hines; honorary pallbearers were Tony Hunt, Kevin Walker, Josiah Martin, and Tim Seago. Mrs. Hilton, 83, died Friday morning, February 20, 2004 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born May 24, 1920 in Winfield, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Oren and Cora Parker Birkhead. She was united in marriage on January 28, 1940 in Frankford, MO to Alva Leo Hines. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1979. She was employed for a number of years as a seamstress for Angelica Uniform in Winfield. She was united in marriage again on June 9, 1981 in Reno, NV to Steve Hilton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy. Besides her parents, Benjamin and Cora Birkhead, and her first husband, Alva Leo Hines, she was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Ellen Wayman; two brothers: Benjamin Oren Birkhead, Jr. and James Donald Birkhead; one son, John R. Hines, who died November 11, 1966; and her second husband, Steve Hilton, who died March 11, 1992. Survivors include two sons: Robert Leo "Roscoe" Hines and his wife, Joanne, of Winfield, and Dennis Lee Hines of Moscow Mills, MO; two daughters: Carol Martin and her husband, Paul, of Winfield, and Elaine Hines of Winfield; 9 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 20 step great-grandchildren and 9 step great, great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers: George Richard Birkhead and his wife, Anna May, of New London, MO, and John Milton Birkhead and his wife, Linda, of Birchtree, MO; four sisters: Marjorie Marie Wagner Montgomery and her husband, Derwood, of Winfield, Helen Lee Tayon and her husband, Delmar, of Winfield, Jean Frances Brown and her husband, Bob, of Troy, and Sharon Sue Benny and her husband, Gary, of Florissant, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
