Obituary of James Parker

James Garrett "Gary" Parker James Garrett "Gary" Parker of Elsberry, MO, died Tuesday afternoon, February 3, 2004 at Silex Community Care Center in Silex, MO. Born January 23, 1938 in Mound City, IL, he was the son of the late James Howard and Marjorie Jo Cropper Parker. He was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Elsberry in 1954. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from January 31, 1955 until December 10, 1959. While serving his country, he competed his high school education and obtained his GED. Mr. Parker graduated from Ranken Technical Institute with a degree in heating and air conditioning repair. He was employed for a number of years as a laborer at Hillside Gardens near Foley, MO. He was united in marriage on September 30, 2000 to Mary W. Stillwell Hunter. Besides his parents, James Howard and Marjorie Jo Parker, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert W. Parker, who died September 22, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Mary Parker of Elsberry; one brother, Mike Parker and his wife, Linda, of Elsberry; two sisters: Judith C. Mead of Springfield, MO, and Patti Jo Vanaman of St. Louis, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Parker was cremated at Memorial Park Crematory in St. Louis, MO with a private memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Joseph R. Palmer Family Memorial Library in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.
