Obituary of Laura Sue Smith

Laura Sue Smith Funeral services for Laura Sue Smith of Elsberry, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Raymond Doussard officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren: Jonathan Smith, David Smith, Steven Smith, Eric Smith, Shawn Smith, Clinton Smith, Kory Smith, Kim Brandt and Todd Smith. Mrs. Smith, 75, died late Saturday evening, January 31, 2004 at Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born July 7, 1928 in Hawk Point, MO, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Katie Inez Carl Fasse. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1945 in Elsberry, to Louis Eugene Smith. She worked in the nursing field for over 38 years and was employed as a certified nurses aid for the Elsberry Health Care Center for six years before her retirement. Besides her parents, Samuel and Katie Fasse, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Commellious Fasse and Bobby Lee Fasse; two sisters: Nadine Henson and Samolene "Sammy" Koeneman; and her beloved husband, Louis Smith, who died February 10, 2001. Survivors include four sons: Albert Eugene Smith of Elsberry, Abbitt Lee Smith of Rockport, IL, Raymond Louis Smith and his wife, Linda, of Eolia, MO, and Harry Don Smith of Troy, MO; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
