Obituary of Verdie Lefholz

Verdie Henry Lefholz Funeral services for Verdie Henry Lefholz of Winfield, MO were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Rev. Richard Turnbull, pastor of the Foley Baptist Church, officiated with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Mr. Lefholz, 83, died Friday afternoon, January 16, 2004 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, MO. Born July 12, 1920 in Warren County, MO, he was the son of Arthur D. and Minnie Sellenchutter Lefholz. He was united in marriage on April 7, 1943 in Salina, KS to Berneice Fay Tayon. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from December 1, 1942 until December 19, 1945. He was employed for 30 years as a maintenance worker on the assembly line at Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, MO, retiring October 1977. He was a member of the UAW Local #325 in St. Louis, MO. Besides his parents, Arthur and Minnie Lefholz, he was preceded in death by on sister, Mable Mitchell. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 61 years, Berneice Lefholz of Winfield; one son, Jimmy Lefholz of Winfield; one daughter, Vivian Lindsey of Winfield; five grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
