Obituary of John Wilson Hoelting
John Wilson Hoelting
A Mass of Christian Burial for John Wilson Hoelting of Old Monroe, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were David Hoelting, Donnie Jackson, Gabe Jackson, Corey Hoelting, Kevin Hoelting, Dennis Hoelting and Norm Franzlau.
Mr. Hoelting, 80, died Monday morning, December 29, 2003 at Barnes St. Peters Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born October 7, 1923 in Old Monroe, he was the son of the late John Andrew and Oneita Pollard Hoelting. He was a 1941 graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, MO. In 1942 he was united in marriage to Virginia Foreman. This union was blessed with four children: David, Michael, Toni and Teri. He was married again in June 1970 in Old Monroe to Irma Irene Renfro. He was employed for many years as a tool grinder at McDonnell-Douglas aircraft manufacturing in St. Louis, MO, retiring in 1985. Mr. Hoelting was a member of the Machinist Union, Local # 837 in St. Louis. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Hoelting was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe.
Besides his parents, John and Oneita Hoelting, he was preceded in death by one brother, Percy Hoelting in 1981; and his beloved wife of 15 years, Irma Irene Hoelting, who died April 24, 1985.
Survivors include two sons: David Hoelting and his wife, Tracy, and Michael Hoelting and his wife, Mary Ann, all of Old Monroe; two daughters: Toni Hoelting of Old Monroe, and Teri Jackson and her husband, Donnie, of Foley, MO; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Edythe Dickmeyer and her husband, Wilbert, of Winfield, MO; one sister-in-law, Joan Hoelting of Old Monroe; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2004 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. A Prayer Services was held Thursday evening during visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Building Fund, the Salvation Army or the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O. Box 253, Winfield, MO 63389.
