June Porter Funeral services for June Porter of Winfield, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield First Baptist Church, officiated with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Mrs. Porter, 80, died Thursday afternoon, December 25, 2003 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born June 15, 1923 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Herman and Elizabeth Smith Schmedeke. She was united in marriage in 1970 to Marshall Andrew Porter. In 1996, Mrs. Porter moved to Winfield area to be near her step-children. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO. Besides her parents, Herman and Elizabeth Schmedeke, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Schmedeke; and her beloved husband, Marshall Porter, who died October 1993. Survivors include one step-son, Larry Porter and his wife, Liz, of Winfield; three step-daughters: Linda Vaughn and her husband, Don, of Steelville, MO, Martha Dowd and her husband, Robert, of Florissant, MO, and Marsha Grillo and her husband, Kim, of Winfield; 13 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Laverne Schmedeke of St. Peters; two nieces, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, December 31, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
