Obituary of Eleanor Parr

Eleanor Christine Parr A Mass of Christian burial for Eleanor Christine Parr of Old Monroe, MO was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2003 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, officiated with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers were Jim Benedict, Rob Benedict, Mike Benedict, Keith Kendall, Tim Kersting, David Parr, Doug Parr, Brian Parr, and Kevin Parr. Mrs. Parr, 86, died late Thursday morning, December 4, 2003 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born July 20, 1917 in Old Monroe, she was the daughter of Edward and Gertrude Bals Burkemper. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1937 in Normandy, MO to Raymond William Parr. She was a member of the Ladies Soldality and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Besides her parents, Edward and Gertrude Burkemper, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Herbert George Burkemper and Leo Burkemper; two sisters, Agnes Kientzy and Rose Parr; one son-in-law, Ralph Benedict; one grandchild; and her beloved husband, Raymond William Parr, who died January 8, 1984. Survivors include two sons: Vernon Parr and his wife, Pat, of Wentzville, MO, and Don Parr and his wife, Sandy, of Old Monroe; four daughters: Jean Benedict of Wentzville, Betty Kersting and her husband, Glenn, Mary Kendall and her husband, Jim, and Kathy Gilbert and her husband, Ed, all of Old Monroe; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister-in-law: Mildred Burkemper of Wentzville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
