Magdaline Reed McCleary Graveside services for Magdaline Reed McCleary of St. Charles, MO were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Bellflower City Cemetery in Bellflower, MO. Rev. Michael Ryan, pastor of the Winfield First Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. McCleary, 90, died Monday morning, December 1, 2003 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles. Born April 13, 1913 in Millwood, MO, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Ida Belle Laird Moran. She was united in marriage in 1942 in Lincoln County, MO to Roland Klink Reed. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1957. She was employed for a number of years as a seamstress for the Beacon Shoe Factory in Jonesburg, MO, retiring in the late 1950's. She was united in marriage again in April 1959 in Columbia, MO to John McCleary. She was a member of the Bellflower Baptist Church in Bellflower. Besides her parents, Alphonso and Ida Moran, and her first husband, Roland Reed; she was preceded in death by five brothers: John Moran, Orville Moran, Thomas Moran, James Moran, and William Moran; two sisters: Bernadine Pines and Jewell LaBarge; one son: William "Buddy" Moran, who died on March 24, 1986; and her second husband, John McCleary, who died in November 1966. Survivors include two sons: George Reed of Kodak, TN, and Mark Reed and his wife, Bryant, of Troy, MO; one daughter, Evelyn Dixon and her husband, Paul, of Winfield, MO; one daughter-in-law, Marie Moran of St. Peters, MO; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
