Obituary of Lenas Oshia

Lenas Joseph Oshia Funeral services for Lenas Joseph Oshia of Old Monroe, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Carter Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield. Father Bill Baier, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO, officiated with burial in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Oshia, 80, died Saturday morning, October 4, 2003 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Born July 27, 1923, he was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Mae Vilmer Oshia. He was united in marriage on April 17, 1943 in Old Monroe to Marie Anna Edinger. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines and New Guinea from May 10, 1943 until December 31, 1945. He was employed for many years at McDonnell Douglas aircraft manufacturing as a jigbore operator, retiring in July 1986. He was a member of the Machinist Union Local 837B in St. Louis. He was a member of the St. Peters American Legion Post #313, the Winfield VFW Post #5517, the St. Peters American Veterans Post #106, and the Elks Lodge #2587 in O'Fallon, MO. Mr. Oshia was a member of Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe. Besides his parents, Clarence and Anna Oshia, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Willard Oshia, Homer Oshia and Louis Oshia. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Marie Oshia of Old Monroe; four sisters: Dorothy Langley and her husband, Hubert, of Winfield, Eula "Susie" Lhamon and her husband, Donald, of French Village, MO, Josephine Richter and her husband, Robert, of St. Peters, and Yvonne Melton and her companion, Patrick Griffith, of St. Louis, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
