Robert Howard Coffey Funeral services for Robert Howard Coffey of Winfield, MO, were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at New Galilee Christian Church near Winfield, MO. Rev. Steve Minkler, church pastor, officiated with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren. Mr. Coffey, 81, died Sunday morning, June 29, 2003 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL. Born September 29, 1921 in Bloomington, IL, he was the son of the late Davis Gilliam and Sallie Norris Coffey. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from June 30, 1944 until March 28, 1946. He was united in marriage on November 26, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN, to Doris LaVerne Arbuckel. He was employed for a number of years as a delivery driver for Leonard's Metal. He was a member of New Galilee Christian Church near Winfield. Besides his parents, Davis and Sallie Coffey, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Rosco Coffey and Earl Coffey; and two sisters: Josie Halihan and Marie Coffey, who died as an infant. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 48 years, Doris Coffey of Winfield; two sons: Robert Daniel Coffey of Bend, OR, and Stephen Howard Coffey and his wife, Debra, of Winfield; one daughter, Faith Hall and her husband, Tom, of Bend, OR; two step-daughters: Connie Schmerbauch and her husband, Irwin, of Collinsville, IL, and Sheila Tebbe and her husband, Charles, of Pocahontas, IL; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Alma Marcum of Bloomington, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
