Obituary of Audie Kelly

Audie Ewell Kelly Funeral services for Audie Ewell Kelly of Old Monroe, MO were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of Winfield First Baptist Church, officiated with burial in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Serving as pallbearers were Scott Kelly, Jill Mazzacavallo, Kate Mazzacavallo, Jamie Kelly, Michael Hoelting, Dale Kelly, John Lauritzen, and Tom Renfrow. Mrs. Kelly, 81, died early Thursday morning, May 8, 2003 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, MO. Born August 22, 1921 in Harrisburg, IL, she was the daughter of John and Pearl Ewell. She was united in marriage on July 1, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Denzal F. Kelly. She was employed for a number of years as a rivoter for Curtis Wright Aircraft. She was later employed as a seamstress for Gossard Manufacturing and as an AVON Representative. She was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church. Audie was devoted to her grandchildren: Jill, Kate, Jamie and Scott. She was an enthusiastic Democratic Committee Woman for the Old Monroe Township, Union Rep for ILGWU, very interested in flood control projects and co-authored a book on the "History of Southeast Lincoln County." She was not a member of Ducks Unlimited. She was a feisty lady. Besides her parents, John and Pearl Ewell, she was preceded in death by one brother, Amberson Ewell; one sister, Iclee Duncan; and her beloved husband, Denzal F. Kelly, who died April 1, 1986. Survivors include one son, Karl Kelly and his wife, Shirley, of Winfield; one daughter, Dianne Kelly Mazzacavallo and her husband, Duane, of Calverton Park, MO; and four grandchildren: Jill Mazzacavallo of Atlanta, GA, Kate Mazzacavallo of Calverton Park, Jamie Kelly and Scott Kelly, both of Winfield. She also leaves two sisters: Orpha Marie Dailey of Meadowbrooke, IL and Mae Renfrow of Jerseyville, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
