May B. Moss-Ligon Funeral services for May B. Moss-Ligon of Elsberry, MO, were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Richard Pillers, pastor of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Denny Burbridge, Kenny Burbridge, Josh Burbridge, Wally Briscoe, Steve Briscoe, and Yancy Burbridge; honorary pallbearer was Jason Burbridge. Mrs. Ligon, 96, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born August 17, 1906 in Hannibal, MO, she was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Beulah Tolbert Burbridge. She was united in marriage on November 1, 1930 in Louisiana, MO to Clardy George Moss. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1984. She was married again on October 19, 1985 in Elsberry to Charles R. Ligon. She was employed for a number of years as a receptionist. She was a member of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church Besides her parents, James and Buelah Burbridge, and her first husband, Clardy Moss, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond Kenneth Burbridge, James Burbridge, and Marvin Lee Burbridge; six sisters: Margaret Burbridge, LaVeta Veal, Eva Autrey, Maude Perkins, Eta Canady, and Irene Ray; and her second husband, Charles R. Ligon, who died November 17, 1989. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
