Obituary of Kenneth Francis Hannar
Kenneth Francis Hannar
Visitation for Kenneth Francis Hannar of O'Fallon, MO will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Full Military Honors are to follow.
Mr. Hannar, 93, passed away Saturday night, October 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born August 3, 1921 in Truesdale, MO, he was the son of Jess and Bernice Rhodes Hannar. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Kenneth was united in marriage on December 25, 1945 in Winfield to Lois Marie Gravens. This union was blessed with five children: Wanda Sue, Sherril Ann, Lisa Marie, Kenneth Wayne and Jess J.T. He worked as a hoisting engineer for Israel Brothers Construction, retiring in 1982. Kenneth was a member of St. Louis Operating Engineers Local #513. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Bernice Hannar; two daughters: Wanda Sue Callaway, who died in 1996 and Lisa Marie McCoy, who died in 2004; his brother, John Hannar; three sisters: Bernice Campbell, Josephine Roberts and Margaret Hannar, who died as an infant; his grandson, Kenneth Ray Brawley; his great, great-granddaughter, Kaileigh Sunderland; and his beloved wife, Lois Hannar, who died on November 6, 1958.
Survivors include his children: Sherril Kersting and her husband, Donald, Kenneth Hannar and his wife, Lynn and Jess J.T. Hannar and his wife, Christina, all of O'Fallon; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and six great, great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Alice Cowan of St. Charles, MO; two brothers: Lester Hannar and Jesse Hannar, both of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers-in-law, Harold Roberts, of St. Charles and Robert Gravens and his wife, Betty, of Del Ray Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
