Obituary of Barbara Wilma Smith

Barbara Wilma Smith Funeral Services for Barbara Wilma Smith of Winfield, MO, formerly a long time resident of Traverse City, Michigan, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan of Winfield First Baptist Church will officiate. Ms. Smith, 92, passed away late Wednesday night, December 28, 2011 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry, MO. Born January 24, 1919 in Battle Creek, MI, she was the daughter of William and Kenzie May Merchant McComb. She worked for many years as a License Psychiatric Nurse for the State of Michigan, retiring in 1978. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kenzie Merchant; two daughters: Patricia Smith who died in infancy and Deanna Lile who died in 2011; one son, Bill Smith who died in 2005; and one brother, Hal Johnson, who died in 1997. Survivors include two daughters: Judith Helmick and her husband, Roger, of Winfield and Linda Louise Kaley also of Winfield; her son-in-law, Richard Lile, of Southbury, CT; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home.
