Obituary of Dorothy Jean Cordsiemon

Dorothy Jean Cordsiemon Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Cordsiemon of Elsberry, MO will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Richard Pillers, pastor of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church in Elsberry, will officiate. A family graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ron Cordsiemon, Brian Cordsiemon, Brad Cordsiemon, Eric Cordsiemon, Rob Murphy and David Cordsiemon; and honorary pallbearers: David Davis, Wayne Pflasterer, Dustin Robinson and Steven Hoelting. Mrs. Cordsiemon, 90, passed away Friday morning, December 31, 2011 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born September 21, 1921 in Brookfield, MO, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Alzada Sheets Hisel. She was a graduate of Brookfield High School. She was united in marriage on November 16, 1939 in Palmyra, MO to George Henry Albert Cordsiemon. This union was blessed with six children: George "Bud", Carol, Larry, Ronald, Dorothy Rose and David. She was a member of the Elsberry Study Club for many years. Dorothy was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alzada Hisel; two daughters, Dorothy Rose Cordsiemon who died as an infant in 1950, and Carol Murphy in 1975; one son, George Albert "Bud" Cordsiemon in 1992; and her beloved husband of almost 33 years, George Cordsiemon, who died on November 9, 1972. Survivors include three sons: Larry Cordsiemon and his wife, Cindy, of Elsberry, Ronald Cordsiemon and his wife, JoAnn, of Elsberry, and David Cordsiemon, also of Elsberry; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves several cousins, in-laws, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of the service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the J.R.
