Obituary of Harold August Boedeker

Harold August "Red" Boedeker A mass of Christian Burial for Harold August "Red" Boedeker of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Joe Nassal will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Michael, Alex, Todd, Brad, Ashleigh and Austin Boedeker and Becky and Grant Toellner. Mr. Boedeker, 91, passed away late Friday morning, October 21, 2011 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born November 12, 1919 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Anthony and Sophie Herklotz Boedeker. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a dairy farmer for many years in St. Louis County, St. Charles and Lincoln County. He was united in marriage on June 22, 1946 in Bridgeton, MO to Louise Catherine Nassal. This union was blessed with four children: Bev, Jim, John and Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Sophie Boedeker; his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Louise Boedeker who died April 11, 2006;one brother, Anthony Boedeker, Jr. and one sister, Melba Behlmann. Survivors include one daughter, Bev Toellner and her husband, Mel, of Mexico, MO and three sons: Jim Boedeker and his wife, Wendy, of Elsberry, John Boedeker and his wife, Thelma, of Elsberry and Bill Boedeker and his wife, Lisa, of Troy, MO. He also leaves eight grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Boedeker of Elsberry; one sister, Doris Nassal and her husband, Joe, of Florissant, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry; and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Memorials may be made to the Masses or the Alzheimer's Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes, 107 S. 5th Street; Elsberry, MO 63343.
