Obituary of Rosemary Ruth Bruner

Rosemary Ruth Bruner Funeral services for Rosemary Ruth Bruner of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 11 at the New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, church pastor, will officiate with burial in the New Hope Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Hurley, Don Brewer, Sr., Donald Brewer, Jr., Airianna Brewer, Preston Mabe and Ron Ragus. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Eaton and Rodney Motley. Mrs. Bruner, 82, passed away on October 6, 2011 at her home near Elsberry surrounded by her friends and neighbors. Born July 9, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Richardson) Schaefer. She attended Normandy High School. She was united in marriage on September 24, 1964 in Lincoln County, MO to Herschel Elmer Bruner. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring after 25 years of service. Mrs. Bruner attended New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years on November 30, 2008. She sadly missed Herschel these last three years but was comforted and supported by her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Bruner was also preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Minnie Schaefer and one brother, Edward Schaefer. Having no children of their own, Rosemary and Herschel provided homes for many unwanted and mistreated animals and will be greatly missed by her four loving companions: PeeWee, Arnold, Sandy and Peanuts. Mrs. Bruner is also survived by one brother, George Schaefer; two nephews, Thomas Schaefer and Gary Schaefer; one niece, Kim Schaefer; and four great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 10th, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
