Obituary of Kenneth Laverne Burkhart

Kenneth Lavern Burkhart Funeral Services for Kenneth Lavern Burkhart of Old Monroe, MO, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home will officiate with entombment in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, MO. Mr. Burkhart, 75, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 25, 2011. Born October 22, 1935 in Pollock, MO he was the son of Arthur and Dorothy Davis Burkhart. Mr. Burkhart was raised in St. Charles, MO. He was united in marriage in August 1954 in Mississippi to Madaline E. Meyer. This union was blessed with five children: Steve, Cindy, Leana, Vicky and Beverly. He owned Kenny's Live Fish and Bait. He was employed for many years as a concrete finisher, retiring in 1982. He raised cattle and loved to go four wheeling and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Burkhart and two brothers: Arthur Jr. and Eugene. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Madaline Burkhart and five children: Steve Burkhart and his wife, Donna, of Old Monroe, MO, Cindy Tinker of St. Charles, Leana Ortner of O'Fallon, MO, Vicky Walden of Louisiana and Beverly Mertens of St. Charles. He also leaves two sisters-in-law: Violet Burkhart of Old Monroe and Shirley Burkhart of St. Peters, MO. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
