Obituary of John Lee Attebury

John Lee Attebury Funeral Services for John Lee Attebury of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Richard Pillers of Elsberry Assembly of God Church will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Copeland, Ronny Smith, James Johnson, Phillip Melton, Jr. and Daniel Tow. Mr. Attebury, 71, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born March 31, 1940 in Louisiana, MO, he was the son of Jim and Goldie Dobbs Attebury. He was employed as a molding machine operator for Jones & Viney in Troy, MO for many years, retiring in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Goldie Attebury. He is also preceded by two brothers, Jimmy and Joe Attebury; one sister, Betty Attebury and his companion of almost 30 years, Debrah Sue Scarborough. Survivors include four sons: Mark Atteberry and his wife, Monica, of Hawk Point, MO, John Atteberry and his wife, Leah, of Pensacola, FL, William Scarborough and his companion, Christina Melton and Joey Scarborough, all of Troy. He also leaves four grandchildren: Kurt Atteberry, Blake Atteberry, Grace Atteberry and Nathan Scarborough; two sisters: Margaret Bett and her husband, Emerson, of Wright City, MO and Dorothy Gallager and her husband, Billy, of Louisiana; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
