Obituary of Floyd Joseph Rottger

Floyd J. Rottger Funeral Services for Floyd Joseph Rottger of Troy, MO, formerly of Winfield, MO will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe, MO. Rev. Eugene Rahmeier, pastor of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Moscow Mills, MO, will officiate with burial in St. Paul UCC Cemetery near Old Monroe. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Rottger, Dennis Rottger, Shawn Gibson, Travis Gibson, Matt Voepel and Don Rottger. Mr. Rottger, 87, passed away Friday afternoon, October 3, 2014 at Troy Manor in Troy. Born May 30, 1927 at Chain of Rocks near Old Monroe, he was the son of Frank Albert and Philomene Stork Rottger. Floyd was united in marriage on August 11, 1950 in Old Monroe to Esther Anna Reese. This union was blessed with five daughters: Mary Ann, Roselinn Ella, Joyce Ann, Elva Mae and Patricia Ann. He was employed for 42 years as a truck driver hauling milk, from 1943 until he retired in 1985. Floyd was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Philomene Rottger; infant twin siblings who died in childbirth; three brothers: Marion Rottger, Calvin Rottger and Francis Rottger; one sister, Viola Kersting; and one son-in-law, Charles Mehs. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Esther Rottger of Troy; five daughters: Mary Ann Mehs of Elsberry, MO, Roselinn Noble and her husband, Anthony, of Foley, Joyce Noble and her husband, Larry, of Winfield, Elva Mae Gibson and her husband, Kenneth, of Elsberry and Patricia Voepel and her husband, Norman, of Moscow Mills; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Everett Rottger and his wife, Rosemary, of Troy; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe. Memorials may be made to St. Paul UCC Cemetery, Therapeutic Horsemanship of St. Louis, or the Charity of the Donor's Choice in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 3838 East Highway 47, P.O.
