Obituary of Ida Edna Reed

Ida Edna Reed Funeral Services for Ida Edna Reed of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Corinth Christian Church in Foley, MO. Rev. Scott Groshong, church pastor and Rev. Kenneth Wells, will officiate with burial in Star Hope Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Baker, Sid Baker, Ernie Potts, Rodger Summers, Paul Labanca and Bryan Summers. Mrs. Reed, 81, passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2011 at her home in Elsberry. Born October 30, 1929 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Rupert and Mattie Lucille Branham Summers. She was united in marriage on March 20, 1948 in Foley to Homer Louis Reed. This union was blessed with three children: Louis Robert, Milton Edward and Michael Eugene. She worked for many years as a seamstress for A Shade Apart in Troy, Missouri; retiring in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert and Mattie Summers; one son, Milton Edward Reed, who died October 19, 2003; one brother, Jordan Summers; three sisters: Dorothy Wells, Mae Summers and Jeanette Davis; and her beloved husband of 55 years, Homer Reed, who died May 28, 2003. Survivors include two sons: Louis Reed and Michael Reed and his wife, Debbie, all of Elsberry; one brother, John H. "Buster" Summers and his wife, Ruthann; one sister, Marie Blake of Foley, MO; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
