Obituary of Virginia Lee Riffle

Virginia Lee Riffle Funeral services for Virginia Lee Riffle of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Sammy Lorton of Whiteside Holiness Church will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Riffle, 84, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Elsberry Health Care Center. Born April 1, 1927 in Troy, MO she was the daughter of Marion William Harding and Elsie Lee Barnes. She was united in marriage on May 12, 1944 in St. Charles, MO to Rodney T. Riffle. This union was blessed with nine children. She lived most of her life in or around Elsberry. She was a housewife and enjoyed raising her children. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #349 in Clarksville, MO for 16 years. She was also a member of the Holiness Church in Elsberry. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Elsie Harding; two sons, Allen Riffle and an unnamed infant; one grandchild, Allie Frank Riffle who passed away in 2009; three brothers: James William Harding, John Thomas Harding, Joseph Aaron Harding; four sisters: Ernetta Bernice Tolbert, Marjorie Geraldine Gordon, Elsie Marcella Gordon and Norma Fay Robinson; and her beloved husband of 49 years, Rodney Riffle who passed away June 14, 1993. Survivors include four sons: Charles Rodney Riffle and his wife, Helen of Clarksville, MO, Lindell Lee Riffle of Foley, MO, Phillip Arnold Riffle and his wife, Patty and Kenneth Leon Riffle and his wife, Tina, all of Elsberry; three daughters: Elsie Ethyl Dunn and her husband, Alfred of Troy, MO, Susan Marie Trower and her husband, Paul of Troy, and Virginia Rodena Conklin and her husband, Harold of Drasko, AR; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Frank Bell Harding and his wife, Mabel of Winfield; five sisters: Marion Eileen Locklin and her husband, William of Troy, Opal Louis Dyer and her husband, Danny of Moscow Mills, MO, Mary Velma Calvin and her husband, James, of Elsberry, Georgia Ann Gordon and her husband, Doyle, of Foley, MO, and Edna Elizabeth Nickelson and her husband, Walter of Winfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO.
