Obituary of Jerome Cyril Heil

Jerome Cyril "Jerry" Heil A mass of Christian Burial for Jerome C. "Jerry" Heil of Old Monroe, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Old Monroe. Msgr. Gregory Schmidt, church pastor, will officiate, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael King, J. D. O'Bryan, Ryan O'Bryan, Eric McLane, Anthony Heil, Blake Heil, Matthew King and Steven Gowan. Mr. Heil, 84, passed away Monday afternoon, March 14, 2011 at his home in Old Monroe. Born April 28, 1926 in St. Louis, MO he was the son of Charles and Florence Schwabb Heil. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage on April 30, 1949 in Overland, MO to Dorothy Evelyn Callender. This union was blessed with seven surviving children: Kathleen, Mary, Raymond, Joan, Kevin, Mark and Tracy. He worked for 15 years as a Deputy Sheriff in St. Charles County, retiring in 1989. He and his family owned O'Fallon Cab for 25 years. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW Post #5077 in O'Fallon, MO and a member of the Old Monroe Lion Club. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church near Old Monroe and a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in O'Fallon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Heil; three infant daughters; and four brothers: John, Charles, Richard and Raymond Heil. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Dorothy Heil of Old Monroe; three sons: Raymond Heil and his wife, Ronda of Elsberry, Kevin Heil and his wife, Kathy of Washington, IN and Mark Heil and his wife, Lisa of Bloomington, IN; four daughters: Kathleen King of O'Fallon, MO, Mary Smith and her husband, Tim, of Foley, MO, Joan Burkemper of Old Monroe, and Tracy Gowan and her husband, Ron, of St. Charles, MO; 16 grandchildren: Matthew King, Michael (Rachel) King, Crystal O'Bryan, Ryan O'Bryan, Eric McLane, Ashley Nawa, Anthony Heil, Jessica Burkemper, Melissa Pitman, Deanna (Eric) Ohlms, Lindsey Sloan, Blake Heil, Casey Heil, Katey Schulte and Steven Gowan; and 9 great-grandchildren: Eliza O'Bryan, Liywali Nawa, Triston Gibbons, Wyatt Bruns, Trent Pitman, Macy Pitman, Dominic Ohlms, Ella Ohlms and Devin Ohlms. He also leaves three brothers: Phillip Heil and his wife, Maryann of Washigton, MO, Paul Heil of Rogersville, MO and Matt Heil of St. Louis County, MO; two sisters: Florence Strong and her husband, Huey of Arnold, MO and Catherine Kutterer of Columbia, IL; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO.
