Obituary of Edward G. Fessler

Edward Gerald Fessler, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Gerald Fessler, Jr. of Foley, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO. Father Raymond Hager, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Ray, Jim Wood, Jim Fisher, Dane Tapley, Charlie Hobby and Bob Kile. Mr. Fessler, 53, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Parklane Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wentzville, MO. Born July 5, 1957 in Columbus, KS, he was the son of Edward Gerald and Dorothy Beatrice Mayfield Fessler, Sr. He was a 1975 graduate of Elsberry High School in Elsberry. He served his country in the U.S. Marines from June 10, 1975 until he was honorably discharged on April 12, 1979. He was united in marriage on May 15, 1982 in Elsberry to Michelle Kay Laws. This union was blessed with two children, Travis and Tiffany. He was employed for many years by Millstone Bangert Construction Company in the Fountain Lakes area of St. Charles County, retiring in June, 2000. He also served as a Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy for several years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Elsberry Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Fessler in 2001. Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 29 years, Michelle Fessler of Foley; one son, Travis Fessler of Foley; and one daughter, Tiffany Fessler and her fiance, Andrew M. Wolf, of Foley. He also leaves his father, Edward G. Fessler, Sr. and his wife, Anna Dean, of Troy, MO; two sisters: Patty Bazan and her husband, Stan, of Annada, MO, and Bea Langston of Winfield, MO; one step-brother, Jerry Colbert of Hannibal, MO; two step-sisters: Sherrie Snead and her husband, Jim, of St. Joseph, MO, and Julie Miller and her husband, Larry, of Troy; his parents-in-law, Jack and Rosemary Laws of Foley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield; and from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service on Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Elsberry.
