Obituary of Donald R. Albert

Donald R. Albert Funeral services for Donald R. Albert of Columbia, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia. Msgr. Michael Flanagan will officiate with entombment in Memorial Cemetery in Columbia. Mr. Albert, 70, passed away Sunday morning March 6, 2011. Born June 4, 1940 in Detroit, MI he was the son of Richard R. and Helen Schmidt Albert. He graduated from high school in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Don started his automotive career at Fischer Body in Ohio, and worked in various capacities for General Motors until he purchased a Buick and Honda franchise in Columbia in 1979. He owned and operated Albert Buick Honda GMC for 30 years until his retirement in 2010. He was united in marriage on January 30, 1970 in Birmingham, AL to Helen C. Powell Houston. After 39 years of marriage, Helen preceded him in death on November 24, 2009. Survivors include his stepson, Paul Houston and wife, Jeanette, of Columbia; two grandchildren, Rebecca Houston and Matthew Houston; one brother, Dan Albert and wife, Mary, of Califon, NJ; a sister, Carla Beers and husband, Richard of St. Louis, MO; and three nieces and nephews: Debbie Beers, and Christopher and Lauren Albert. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 903 Bernadette Drive in Columbia.
