Obituary of Doris Mae Shaffer

Doris Mae Shaffer A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris Mae Shaffer of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. Father Raymond Hager, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Shaffer, James Watkins, Dennis Watkins, Tim Graham and Bobby Green. Mrs. Shaffer, 78, passed away Sunday morning, March 6, 2011 at Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born September 12, 1932 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Charles and Teresa Agnes Kalschutz. She was united in marriage on May 1, 1954 in St. Louis to John Joseph George Shaffer. This union was blessed with seven children: John, Jennifer, William, Chris, Michael, David and Mary. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Teresa Kalschutz; one brother, Charles Kalschutz; and five sisters: Mary, Agnes, Teresa, Louise and Jane. Survivors include her beloved husband of almost 57 years, John Shaffer of Elsberry; five sons: John C. Shaffer and his wife, Cindy, of Foley, MO, William Shaffer and his wife, Annette, of Florissant, MO, Chris Shaffer and his wife, Kendy, of Bowling Green, MO, Michael Shaffer and David Shaffer, both of Elsberry; two daughters: Jennifer Jensen and her husband, Jon, of Emporia, KS, and Mary Watkins and her husband, Dennis, of Elsberry; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Bernard Kalschutz of St. Louis; three sisters: Francis, Rosalee and Josephine, all of St. Louis; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
