Funeral services for Edward Kenneth Dickmeyer of Troy, MO, formerly of Foley, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Winfield near Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan, church pastor, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Albregts, Joshua Albregts, Justin Albregts, David Dickmeyer, Brian Reed and Gary Ethington.
Mr. Dickmeyer, 80, passed away last Saturday evening, January 29, 2011 at Troy Manor in Troy after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born December 20, 1930 in Old Monroe, MO, he was the son of Gus H. and Bernice Janell Hoecker Dickmeyer. He was united in marriage on May 10, 1956 to Rose Marie Reed at St. Paul United Church of Christ near Old Monroe, MO. This union was blessed with two children: Sheila Diane and Michael Wayne. He served his country in the U.S. Army from May 22, 1956 until he was honorably discharged on May 21, 1958. While in the army he was skilled as a helicopter repairman. Ed was a dedicated husband and father and was employed for many years as a farmer for Palmer Farms near Old Monroe. He also served as a hunting guide at the Blackhawk Valley Hunting Preserve near Old Monroe. Ed enjoyed hunting, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, college basketball and attending his grandchildren's athletic events.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Rose Dickmeyer, who died June 15, 2005; his parents, Gus and Bernice Dickmeyer; and a great-grandson, Tristan Albregts.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Jenkinson and her husband, Kent, of Troy; one son, Michael Dickmeyer and his wife, Janice, of Troy; five grandchildren: Jason Albregts and his wife, Becky; Joshua Albregts and his wife, Kelly; Justin Albregts, David Dickmeyer and Katie Sitton and her husband, Tyler; four great-grandchildren: Alisha Albregts, Jude Albregts, Dylan Tiepelman-Albregts, Hannah Albregts; and another great-grandchild due on March 12th, Aubrey Sitton. He also leaves a very special friend, Dot Birkhead of Troy; three sisters: Edna Lee Parsons and her husband, Sam, of Troy, Lorene Marie Ethington and her husband, Harold, of Troy, and Dottie Mae Ethington of Winfield; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
