Obituary of Frank Anthony Asaro

Frank Anthony Asaro, Sr Memorial Services for Frank Anthony Asaro, Sr. of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2::00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Jefferson Barracks Chapel in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Inurnment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Rev. Pete Gounis, pastor at Community Loving Care Hospice will officiate. Mr. Asaro, 86, passed Saturday evening, January 22, 2011 at his home in Winfield. Born February 17, 1924 in St. Louis, MO he was the son of Joseph and Francis Sparvalli Asaro. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from October 26, 1942 until being honorably discharged on January 14, 1946. He was united in marriage on January 2, 1947 in Waterloo, IL to Fern T. Mehrtens. This union was blessed with five children: Frank, Jr., Joseph, John, Victoria and Tamara. He worked for many years as a supervisor for St Louis Bridge Company. He was a member of the Local #42 Laborers Union in St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Francis Asaro; and an infant sister. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Fern Asaro of Winfield, MO; three sons: Frank Asaro, Jr. of New Jersey, Joseph Asaro and his wife, Debbie of Hazelwood, MO and John Asaro and his wife, Joy of Winfield; two daughters: Victoria Zubic and Tamara Carr, both of House Springs, MO; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers: Tony Asaro and Salvatore Asaro and his wife, Vita, all of St. Louis; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
