Graveside services for Lois Wilma Ponder of Springfield, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at New Hope Cemetery near Elsberry, Missouri. Rev. John Zellmer, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, will officiate.
Mrs. Ponder, 84, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Nixa, MO. Born November 16, 1926 in Mount Vernon, IL, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Naomi Suttle Cameron. She was united in marriage on December 23, 1960 in East St. Louis, IL to Gene Thomas Ponder. She worked for 40 years as an office manager for Crescent Tool and Plumbing, retiring in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Naomi Cameron; one brother, Robert H. Cameron, Jr.; two half-sisters: Deana Daniel and Jean Hargrave; and her beloved husband of 17 years, Gene Thomas Ponder, who died on March 19, 1978.
Survivors include four nephews: Robert H. Cameron, III of Nixa, MO, Dan Cameron of Maud, TX, Joe Cameron of Joplin, MO and Scott Cameron of San Antonio, TX; two nieces, Jacqueline Adams of Albuquerque, NM and Charley Purler of Wentzville, MO; several other relatives and many friends.
