Edward Alfred Tayon
Funeral Services for Edward Alfred Tayon of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Richard Turnbull, of Winfield, will officiate with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Cardwell, Alan Tayon, Alfred Harding, Mike Wilder, Rob Tayon and Zachary Nicholson.
Mr. Tayon, 93, passed away Tuesday evening, November 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born April 22, 1917 in Winfield, he was the son of Joseph Paul and Nannie Elizabeth Kitson Tayon. He was a 1935 graduate of Winfield High School. He was united in marriage on June 18, 1938 in Bowling Green, MO to Rose Marie LeMieux. This union was blessed with three children: Joyce, Mary and Ray. He worked for many years as an ironworker in commercial construction. He was a Civilian Employee of the United States Navy, repairing ships from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #396 in St. Louis and the St. Charles Masonic Lodge #241 AF and AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Nannie Tayon; one son, Ray Tayon, who passed away in 1986; one daughter, Mary Levernz, who passed away in 2000; four sisters: Frances Kelly McClay, Bernice Lefholz, Elsie Cardwell and Clara Belle Dixon; and two brothers: Johnnie Tayon and Thomas Tayon.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 72 years, Rose Tayon of Winfield; one daughter, Joyce Tayon of Winfield; one daughter-in-law, Mary Tayon, of Harvester, MO; one son-in-law, Eddie Levernz of Winfield; four grandchildren: Donald Leverenz, Meta Vollmer, Robert Tayon and his wife, Cynthia and Cathy Nicholson; six great-grandchildren: Ashley Tayon, Tiffany Tayon, Megan Tayon, Cierra Tayon, Jessica Vollmer and Deanna Vollmer; and one great, great-grandchild, Kaylee Tayon. He also leaves two sisters: Beatrice Wilson and Mabel Harding and her husband, Frank, all of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
