Obituary of Glen Thomas LaBrayere

Glen Thomas LaBrayere Graveside services for Glen Thomas LaBrayere of Elsberry, MO will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. J. Larry Carter of Carter-Ricks Funeral Homes will officiate. Mr. LaBrayere, 89, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his home in Elsberry. Born February 18, 1921 in St. Louis, MO he was the son of Mark and Josephine Strunk LaBrayere. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, from November 13, 1942, until being honorably discharged on September 7, 1943. He was united in marriage on January 10, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to Bessie Irene Goddard. This union was blessed with a daughter, Lynn. He worked for many years as a brewery driver for Best Beers Distributing in St. Louis, MO retiring in 1983. He was a member of the VFW post #9064 and the American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry, the Moose Lodge #1513 in St. Charles and the Brewery Drivers Local Union #133 in St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Josephine LaBrayere; six brothers: Herb, Raymond, Norbert, Bill, Gene and Vernon LaBrayere; one sister, Grace Vernier; and a son-in-law, Edward Ryan. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Bessie LaBrayere of Elsberry; one daughter, Lynn Ryan, of Cottleville, MO; two grandchildren: David Ryan and his companion, Belinda Gorman, of Florissant, MO, and Stacie Campbell and her husband, Brad, of Vacaville, CA; two great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Erin Campbell; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
