Obituary of Lemuel Wilson Lawrence

Lemuel Wilson "Bill" Lawrence Funeral Services for Lemuel Wilson "Bill" Lawrence of Winfield, MO, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Pastor Todd Cates of the Troy Church of Christ will officiate, with burial in Whispering Winds Cemetery near Winfield. Mr. Lawrence, 92, passed away Friday afternoon, September 24, 2010 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO. Born May 6, 1918 in Wingo, KY, he was the son of Lemuel Potter and Gardie Lee McClure Lawrence. A survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and veteran of Asiatic - Pacific theater during World War II, he served his country in the United States Army from March 3, 1941 until being honorably discharged on May 27, 1945. He was united in marriage on February 28, 1947 in Wingo, KY to Edith Ladine Russell. This union was blessed with two children: Randall and Shari. He worked for many years as an electrician for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Troy Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel and Gardie Lawrence; and his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Edith Lawrence who died February 11, 2005. Survivors include one son, Randy Lawrence of Winfield; one daughter, Shari Blair and her husband, Jeff, of Winfield; four grandchildren: Christopher Lawrence and his wife, Kristy, of O'Fallon, MO, Marc Lawrence and his wife, Joanna, of Winfield, Brittney Lawrence of Winfield, and Jessica Blair also of Winfield; two great-grandchildren: Ariana Lawrence and Diesel Lawrence; several other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
