Obituary of Verda Dormalee Peterson

Verda "Bea" Peterson Funeral services for Verda Dormalee "Bea" Peterson of Foley, MO, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, MO. Rev. Mike Ryan, pastor of the Winfield First Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Greeley Cemetery in Greeley, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Goad, Steve Radford, Michael Nesselhulf, Tommy Smith, Don Lindhorst and Danny Shelton. Mrs. Peterson, 88, passed away late Friday evening, June 4, 2010 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy, MO. Born October 25, 1921 in Greeley, MO, she was the daughter of Luther Eli Edger and Ada Alice Merrit Reese. She was united in marriage on June 26, 1937 in Centerville, MO to Charles Gray Hukel. This union was blessed with six children: Alice Maudine, Dormalee Charlene, Sharon Kay, Linda Lou, Charles Gray, Jr. and Pamela Lynne. In December, 1983, her husband of 46 years, Charles Hukel, Sr. passed away. She was married again on June 3, 1984 in Doniphan, MO to Omer Lee Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ada Reese; two brothers, Harold Reese and Delmar Reese; three sisters: Hazel Holt, Brytle Reese and Daphnene Reese; her first husband, Charles Hukel, Sr.; one daughter, Charlene Smith, who died in July 1984; one son, Charles "Bud" Hukel, Jr., who died in January 2009; two grandchildren; and her beloved husband of almost 17 years, Omer Peterson, who died in February 2001. Survivors include four daughters: Alice Pearson of Ironton, MO, Sharon Radford and her husband, Doyle, of Van Buren, AR, Linda Lindhorst of Elsberry, MO, and Pamela Cagle and her husband, Dwaine, of Foley. She also leaves twenty-five grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren and eleven great, great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
