Funeral services for Frances Kelly McClay of Winfield, MO will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield, MO. Rev. Karla Cunningham, pastor of Makin Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate with burial in New Salem Cemetery in Winfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hoelting, Keith Moore, Kyle Boettcher, Matthew Thornhill, Danny Bals, Steve Wilder and Ron Cardwell. As Frances had so many relatives and friends, she considers them all her honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. McClay, 89, died Tuesday morning, February 16, 2010 at her daughter's home near Winfield, MO. Born February 10, 1921 in Winfield, MO, she was the daughter of Joseph Paul and Nannie Elizabeth Kitson Tayon. She was united in marriage on July 19, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Hiram Clinton Kelly. This union was blessed with two daughters: Linda and Barbara. Clinton passed away on August 15, 1975 after 28 years of marriage. She was married again on December 22, 1979 in Winfield, MO to Charles Henry McClay. She was a member of the Old Monroe/Winfield VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #5517.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Nannie Tayon; her first husband, Clinton Kelly; one grandson, Billy James Boettcher who died in infancy; two brothers: Johnnie Ray Tayon and Thomas Tayon; two sisters, Clara Belle Dixon and Elsie Cardwell; and her husband of 25 years, Henry McClay, who passed away October 9, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters: Linda Boettcher and her husband, Jim, of Foley, MO and Barbara Wilder and her husband, Mike, of Winfield; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Edward Tayon and his wife, Rose, of Winfield; three sisters: Bernice Lefholz, Beatrice Wilson and Mabel Harding and her husband, Frank, all of Winfield, one brother-in-law, Walter David McClay of Troy, MO; two sisters-in-law: Della Tayon and Mary "Toots" Kelly both of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.
