Funeral Services for Rose Marie Remmert of Elsberry, MO, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Elsberry Assembly of God Church in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Richard Pillers, church pastor, and Rev. Allen Calkins, pastor of Star Hope Baptist Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery, Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Rusty Remmert, Billy Hittler, Scott Paris, Tommy Hardin, Matthew Ruble and Travis Fessler. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jeans, Bob Duncan, Robert Remmert, Dennis Hittler, Rich Williams, Steve Clark, Larry Hempel and Neil Hittler.
Mrs. Remmert, 69, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2010 at her home near Elsberry. Born November 16, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Arnold LaVerne and Jestine Barrett Copeland. She was a 1958 graduate of Normandy high school in St. Louis, MO. She attended cosmetology school in St. Louis. She was united in marriage on April 4, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Wayne Edward Remmert. This union was blessed with three children: Robin, Edward and Kimberly. In the early years of her career, she was a beautician at salons and then later seeing clients at her home. After moving to Elsberry, she worked for twenty years as a baker at Schnuck's bakery. She was a member of the Elsberry Assembly of God Church. She participated in the Foster Grandparent program at Lincoln County R-II schools for eight years. She was a member of the Elsberry Study Club. She enjoyed her family and friends and many good times at the clubhouse on the river.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Jestine Copeland and her beloved husband of 33 years, Wayne Remmert.
Survivors include two daughters: Robin Stafstrom and her husband, Spencer, and Kim Jones and her husband, Tracey, all of Elsberry; one son, Edward Remmert and his wife, Gracie, of Elsberry; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Remmert of St. Charles, MO, three sisters: Betty Hemby, Gayle Clark, and her husband, Steve, all of St. Peters, MO and Carol Jeans and her husband, Jimmy, of Elsberry; two sisters-in-law: Carol Donner and her husband, Paul of Paducah, KY, and Dottie Hittler and her husband, Dennis, of St. Charles; and one brother-in-law, Robert Remmert and his wife, Sue, of St. Charles. She also leaves five grandchildren: Melissa Oliver and her husband, Shawn, of Winfield, MO, Nichole Remmert, Natalie Copeland, Lillie Jones, and Brystal Jones, all of Elsberry; and two great-grandchildren: Tyler and Taylor Oliver, of Winfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO.
