Obituary of Elmer Edwin Kientzy

Elmer Edwin Kientzy Funeral services for Elmer Edwin Kientzy of Elsberry, MO will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Fr. Raymond Hagar of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elsberry, MO, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hartley, Mark Terrell, Darrell Painter, Hadley Meyer, Matt Meyer, Mike Hartley II, Matt Hartley and Steve Keiser. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Whitehead, Keith Dameron, Jimmy Jeans, Chester Koch, Rich Trammel, Steve Wilch, Kenny Keiser, Bud Strunk, Don Turnbull, Terry Martin, Glen LaBrayere and Jamie Suddarth. Mr. Kientzy, 91, died Monday night, January 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, MO. Born September 14, 1918 in the Apex area in Eastern Lincoln County, Missouri, he was the son of Martin John and Florence Victoria Talbot Kientzy. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from September 16, 1943 until being honorably discharged August 10, 1945. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Robinson on August 11, 1937 in St. Charles, MO. He worked as an Ironworker for Whitworth Engineering for 39 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the St. Louis Ironworkers Local #396; and the American Legion Post #226 and the VFW Post# 9064 in Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Florence Kientzy; his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Kientzy who passed away August 2, 1998; two brothers: Marcellus "Pat" Kientzy and his wife, Ruth, and Harold Kientzy; one sister, Marie Gehr and her husband, Tom Gehr; one sister-in-law, Mary Lee Kientzy; and one brother-in-law, Melvin Tenholder. Survivors include two brothers, Sef Kientzy and his wife, Margaret, of Sedalia, MO, and Lloyd Dale Kientzy of Silex, MO; one sister, Edna Tenholder of Troy, MO; one sister-in-law, Lucienne Kientzy; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
