Obituary of Charles Alden Siders

Charles Alden Siders Funeral services for Charles Alden Siders of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Tim Gordon, pastor of the Elsberry Holiness Church will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry. Mr. Siders, 69, passed away Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 at his home in Elsberry. Born August 15, 1940 in Greenfield, MO, he was the son of Allen Leroy and Mildred Fern Allen Siders. He was a graduate of Enola High School in Enola, PA. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, active duty from January 9, 1959 until January 8, 1963; and in the reserves until January 8, 1965. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1968 in Winchester, VA to Dorothy Marie Smith Lanser. After almost 25 years of marriage, Dorothy preceded him in death on June 18, 1993. He was employed for many years as an assembly line machinist at the Chrysler plant in Fenton, MO, retiring in 2001. He then worked as a carpenter for B&B Construction, retiring in 2004. Mr. Siders was married again on October 1, 2005 in Pittsfield, IL to Pauline Frances Keefer. He was a member of the UAW Local #110 in St. Louis; and the American Legion Post #226 in Elsberry. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen L. Siders; and his first wife, Dorothy Siders. Survivors include his beloved wife, Pauline Siders of Elsberry; one daughter, Judy Hale and her husband, Mark, of Troy, MO; and one grandson, Kyle. He also leaves his mother, Mildred Dietz Witt of Elsberry; four brothers: Allen "Shorty" Siders, Sr. and his wife, Beverly, of Elsberry, Melvin "Porky" Dietz of Columbia, MO, Marty Dietz and his wife, Brenda of Elsberry, and Lonnie Ben Dietz, also of Elsberry; seven sisters: Joyce Hare of Harrisburg, PA, Linda Clark of Elsberry, Judy Hoerrman and her husband, Bob, of Kirksville, MO, Donna Dryden of Elsberry, Vicki Sanderson and her husband, Ron, of Bloomsdale, MO, Connie Wallace and her husband, Robert, of Foley, MO, and Betty Reed and her husband, Bob, of Louisiana, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
