Obituary of Dorothy Gwendelyn McFarland

Dorothy McFarland Memorial services for Dorothy Gwendelyn McFarland of Elsberry, MO, formerly of Newburg, IN, will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. J. Larry Carter will officiate with burial at a later date. Mrs. McFarland, 85, died Monday afternoon, December 7, 2009 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Born July 30, 1924 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Helen Jones. She was united in marriage on June 15, 1957 in Alcorn County, MS to James McFarland. She enjoyed bowling, painting china and trips to Branson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Jones; one daughter, Judy DeClue in 1992; and one granddaughter, Robin Mitchell; and her beloved husband of 46 years, James T. McFarland on February 3, 2004. Survivors include two granddaughters: Micha Rainwater and her husband, Ken of Troy, and Judy Green and her husband, Bob, of Elsberry; four grandsons: Mike DeClue and his companion, Mary Kay, of Osage Beach, MO, Tom DeClue and his wife, Barb, of Troy, MO, Terry DeClue and his companion, Mary, of Osage Beach, and Bill DeClue and his wife, Lisa, of St. Peters, MO; a granddaughter-in-law, Gina DeClue Barker and her husband, Richard, of Belleville, IL; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Wall of Newburg, IN; and several great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until time of the service on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
